The
whole "modular" concept is an interesting and unique alternative
to standard site built construction. Instead of assembling a building
day by day on a job site, subject to weather, modular construction
utilizes a manufacturing plant. Therefore, while the foundation at
the site is being put in, the building is being constructed in a controlled
environment. Upon completion, the sections are then shipped for final
assembly on the prepared foundation. The modular concept can save
months in construction time!
At a future time the facility can be relocated if necessary,
making this an ideal solution for space on a leased property, or school
districts with shifting population.
In addition to cost savings over site construction, modular construction also offers tax benefits. Since a manufactured building is classified as "equipment", this allows for a shorter depreciation schedule, which gives greater tax advantages. |
